Case Study: How Caritas uses the V500

In order to prove the suitability of the Sevic V500 electronic utility vehicle, we offered the Caritasverband für Ahlen, Drensteinfurt und Sendenhorst e.V. the opportunity to test the vehicle extensively in a real-life scenario. Due to the customer's requirements, we chose the V500 with an individual cargo box. In this version, the box of the vehicle has sliding doors on both sides of the cargo box. This allows for fast delivery times as there is no loading sill, and the food can be unloaded from multiple sides. With its 3.5m³, the cargo area offers more than enough space for the Thermoboxes. Even a higher delivery volume can be handled well in the future with the V500.

Caritas was looking for a way to deliver prepared meals from its kitchen to the individual facilities, such as the KiTa in Roncalli-Haus, three times a day, i.e. for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The distance that must be covered per delivery trip is 28 kilometers, too much fora cargo bike, and too little for a passenger car. The food is packaged in thermal boxes in the Caritas kitchen to keep either warm or cool. So there is no need for a thermoregulated cargo space, which saves energy and costs.

After the test rental, Caritas decided to buy the Sevic V500. The vehicle replaces an older diesel bus and thus improves the company's environmental footprint enormously. The design of the vehicle makes loading and unloading safer, more comfortable, and faster. In addition, local emissions around the facilities have been reduced, which has a positive impact on the health of children, seniors and employees.
