SOFIA MUNICIPALITY adds four SEVIC electric vehicles for park maintenance!
On September 11, Sofia Municipality has taken delivery of four new SEVIC V500e electric utility vehicles, which will be used by the Municipal Enterprise “Parks and Gardens”. The vehicles will support daily activities such as park cleaning, transportation of equipment, and collection of the green waste throughout the city’s parks.
With zero local emissions and very low noise level, the SEVIC V500e is very suited for work and public parks and other urban green spaces, where quiet and environmentally friendly operation is essential. The vehicles were officially handed over by Eng. Krassimir Petkov, who commented:
“Electric vehicles have enormous potential in urban logistics, municipal services, and infrastructure maintenance. These are exactly the applications for which we develop SEVIC solutions, and we believe this is not only in Europe but around the world.”
The event was also attended by representatives of Eco Cargo Fleet AD, led by Managing Director Zornitsa Bachvarova, Deputy Mayor of Environmental Eng. Nikolay Nedkov and Director of the Municipal Enterprise Parks and Urban Gardens Stoyan Vlahov.
Eng. Nikolay Nedkov highlighted the importance of modernizing municipal equipment:
"Sofia is a modern European city that requires modern, environmentally friendly and intelligent solutions for urban maintenance. We continuously work to improve and upgrade our equipment so that our teams can operate faster, quieter and more efficiently. Introducing electric vehicles into our parks is a direct investment in cleaner air and a better environment for citizens."
According to Stoyan Vlahov, Director of the Municipal Enterprise Parks and Urban Gardens, the new vehicles will help improve everyday operations and support park maintenance across the city.
"These vehicles are a valuable addition to our existing fleet and will help us further improve our operational efficiency. They will be assigned to South Park, Borisova Garden, Vazrazhdane Park, and the park around the National Palace of Culture. Their compact size, quiet operation, and interchangeable cargo bodies will allow our teams to transport branches and green waste quickly and efficiently without disturbing park visitors. When needed, they can also support other municipal departments and services."
Thanks to their smart design, the vehicles feature quickly interchangeable cargo bodies, including a pickup bed, high mesh-sided body for branches and green waste, tipper body, and enclosed cargo box. This flexibility allows them to be used for a wide range of municipal and park maintenance activities.
The delivery of these four SEVIC V500e vehicles marks another step towards cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable urban maintenance in Sofia.
